What I wish I knew when I was younger…

Welcome back, I'm happy you're here.

Do you believe in time travel?

The craziest thing happened… when I was 21 years old, I got a letter from me, from the future!

No postage, no return address.

How did I know it was from me?

Good question!

There were details only I would know. Or I should say, only we would know.

Here is the letter.

Dear Joey,

It's me. I mean, it's you.

Let me start over. Hi, I am you, writing from the future. Today we turned 43 years old. I know, that sounds old, but let me tell you… it's great and I don't feel old.

Are you still wondering why you don't have 100 close friends, prefer smaller gatherings, and hate dinner parties when you only know the host… It's because you're an introvert. These things don't excite you, but you'll find things that do. There is nothing wrong with you!

You know how terrified you are when making eye contact with a stranger, let alone smile or say hi? You won't believe this, today, I walked into my favorite store to buy us a birthday present and I was super chatty with the sales people. It all started when they asked how my day was going. Instead of feeling shy and saying “good thanks” with my head turned down, I answered “today is my birthday and after this I'm going to enjoy some quality time at the beach in Malibu with my book.” We proceeded to talk for 15 minutes. You're probably shocked. It still shocks me. This doesn't happen overnight. I remember how scared you are to smile at a cute guy. You'll start by making eye contact with people you aren't attracted to. Eye contact leads to smiling, which leads to saying hi, which leads to conversations. Last week I complimented a guy on his shoes… he was super cute. Be patient. You'll get there when you're ready.

You'll find out the hard way that money isn't the most important thing. After two years of complaining about your job (a very well paying job), you find the courage to quit, with nothing lined up. You learn to trust life and inadvertently take a year off. Thankfully we've always been great at saving money. When you finally get a job, they pay you a fraction of what you had been making, but get this… your heart is full! You realize your heart balance is more important than your bank balance. I know, crazy!

That dream of yours to go to Africa… you make it happen! You come back with glorious memories, gorgeous photos and a new confidence in traveling around the world, alone. It's one of the first times you prioritize your dreams, taking a month off of work to make this dream a reality. We make it home with zero regrets. I proudly have three photos hanging on my walls from that trip.

There will be times where life gets bumpy.

You'll wonder “Why…” and “When…”

And you learn to trust that answers reveal themselves when the timing is right.

At some point you'll realize life isn't about the finish line, it's about the journey. Speaking for myself (future you) it was all worth it. You learn to enjoy the lessons life throws your way. You are so wise and intuitive.

In case I need to repeat myself, please trust that it all works out.

You're happy, living the life you want.

Fine details: In an attempt to not mess up your timeline, you will forget everything written in this letter. When you turn 43, you'll be able to read this again and see how accurate I was.

Love me, you, us.

Love,

Joey Brighton Reynolds

P.S. You know how you always wanted to be psychic… it turns out you always have been, with a few other “gifts” that are coming out of hiding.

My invitation for you:

  • What would you tell your younger self?

  • What would your younger self like to hear?

  • What dreams have you put on hold?

  • What dreams have you accomplished?

Would you like an intuitive reading?

I've been keeping this a secret too long.

It's time for me to share all of my gifts!

Do you have questions about intuitive readings, coaching, what Joey is short for, what my favorite color is or anything else?

You can schedule a curiosity here.

Let's get curious together.

I'd love to learn something about you.

Thanks for reading! I look forward to seeing you next time.

With so much gratitude,

This is 43! I decked myself out in my favorite color on my birthday.
