For most of my life I stood in front of the camera. My grandmother snapped and clicked with her Nikon, her Minolta, short lens, wide angle. My dad, a one time photojournalist, captured us kids in his black and whites.
Then the camera found me. I didn't go looking for it. I guess it's in my genes.
Now I can't put it down. My favorite shots happen when I stop life for a moment in the middle of nothing special. A kid mid pump on a swing, the hem of the bride's dress caught on her heel, the crazy eyes of a wide open mouthed musician.
Kids love me. Grown-ups relax around me. People trust me.
For me it's about seeing and listening. Listening with my eyes and with my body. I pull beauty, intrigue, curiosity, or heart out of the moment. Then frame it in a way that let's you discover something you didn't even know was there.
